LE GRAND PROJET Une tour comme un « scoubidou géant » C'est « un amoureux du béton » qui revient à Paris, à contre-courant. Rudy Ricciotti, l'architecte prolixe du Mucem à Marseille et du Pavillon Noir à Aix-en- Provence, s'invite avec fracas sur le chantier du Grand Paris. Lui qui a déjà retouché le stade Jean-Bouin, dans le 16 e arrondissement, se mesure à une icône quasi oubliée de l'architecture moderne, la Maison du Peuple, édifiée par Lods, Beaudouin, Prouvé et Bodiansky à Clichy-la- Garenne dans les années 1930. Non seulement Ricciotti réhabilite ce monument de légèreté classé et lui assigne de nouveaux usages, mais il lui adjoint aussi en surplombune tour de 96 mètres en béton blanc tressé, qu'il décrit comme un « scoubidou géant ». Une alliance curieuse. La tour va loger un hôtel et des appartements de luxe, et un restaurant panoramique. La maison en acier va, elle, réunir une halle, des restaurants et commerces bio et solidaires, et un étage d'exposition confié au Centre Pompidou. Architect Rudy Ricciotti, designer of the Mucem museum in Marseille and the Pavillon Noir in Aix-en- Provence, is making a splash in Grand Paris. After his redesign of the Jean-Bouin stadium in the 16th arrondissement, the famous devotee of concrete is bucking current trends in his restoration of the Maison du Peuple, a nearly-forgotten icon of modern architecture in Clichy-la-Garenne, designed by Lods, Beaudouin, Prouvé, and Bodiansky in the 1930s. Ricciotti willadd a 96-m (315-ft) plaited white concrete tower, which he describes as a "giant braid." This bold alliance will house a hotel, luxury apartments, a panoramic restaurant, organic and fair-trade shops, and an exhibition space over an entire floor entrusted to the Centre Pompidou.
