(p. 180) Nous avons exploré tout le Grand Hyatt Cannes Hôtel Martinez pour trouver les meilleurs points de vue. J’ai aimé faire des photos sur le toit, juste derrière le panneau mythique. Ce qu’on ne voit pas dans les photos ? Les nombreux gardes qui veillaient sur les magnifques bijoux que l’on photographiait ! J’ai beaucoup aimé la rencontre quotidienne avec les éléphants, qui habitaient littéralement le camp ! Un paysage qui vous a particulièrement touchée ? Survoler en Cessna le delta de l’Okavango marbré de marécages, c’est inoubliable. Vos projets ? Je travaille sur un livre consacré à la culture visuelle africaine à travers la mode, la photographie, le design et l’architecture. What other publications do you work for ? I work a lot with Vogue, Flair, Grazia and Last Magazine, and I do ad campaigns for TSE, Miss Sixty, Anne Klein, H&M… Where are you based ? New York and Stockholm, where I’m from. What was the most unforgettable moment from your shoot for this issue (p. 180) ? We went everywhere in the Grand Hyatt Cannes Hôtel Martinez looking for the best settings. I loved shooting from behind the famous sign on the roof. What can’t we see in your photos ? The security team guarding the magnifcent jewels that the model was wearing. Passagers What other publications do you work for ? Besides translating for Air France Madame, AD, Vogue Travel in France and other clients, I write a humor column for Paris-update.com. Where are you from originally ? I grewup in a small town in Iowa and frst came to France more than 30 years ago to study music composition. How did you get started in translation ? It was a way to stay in Paris—once I moved here I never wanted to leave. What is your most unusual work experience ? Translating Orgies by Georges Marbeck. Don’t tell my mother ! How did you get the idea for the report on Botswana (p. 214) ? I’ve always been fascinated with southern Africa, and when I heard about Sandibe, an eco-lodge that resembles a giant pangolin, I had to go there. I loved seeing elephants every day—they literally live in the camp ! What was the most unforgettable sight ? Flying over the Okavango Delta, dotted with marshes. There’s no place else like it !
