Tout commence en mai 1839 : deux immigrants polonais, Antoine Norbert de Patek, un homme d’affaires, et François Czapek, un horloger, fondent « Patek, Czapek & Cie ». En 1844, Antoine Norbert de Patek rencontre Adrien Philippe, un horloger de talent français, qui a mis au point un système de remontage et de mise à l’heure des montres par la couronne. En 1851, ils s’associent pour fonder « Patek Philippe & Cie ». En 1932, Charles et Jean Stern, rachètent la société, dont les descendants, Philippe Stern et son fils Thierry, sont aujourd’hui à la tête. The story began in May 1839 when two Polish immigrants, businessman Antoine Norbert de Patek and watchmaker François Czapek, founded Patek, Czapek & Cie. Then in 1844, Antoine Norbert de Patek made the acquaintance of Adrien Philippe, a talented French watchmaker who perfected a system for winding and adjusting the time of watches via a crown ; in 1851 the two went into partnership under the name Patek Philippe & Cie. In 1932 the company was bought by Charles and Jean Stern, whose descendants, Philippe Stern and his son Thierry, now run Patek Philippe, the oldest Geneva manufacture to still be a family business. Ever since it was founded, Patek Philippe has stayed loyal to its traditional values that can be summedup by the French term « bienfacture » (good craftsmanship) testifying to the high quality of all the timepieces’components.
