A travers l’univers sonore et visuel d’un atelier de graphisme, l’exposition nous invite à explorer le paysage graphique romand. Entre affiches, affichettes, dépliants, brochures, cartons d’invitations, flyers, livres et magazines, l’univers de la communication visuelle est largement représenté et traverse plusieurs courants : globalisation des influences et des références, poids du marketing, démocratisation des outils,… PANORAMA présente le graphisme sous une forme culturelle et esthétique afin de donner des clefs de lecture de la culture visuelle à un public non averti. -/The PANORAMA exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Schönherwehrs visual comuniations studio and Katya García-Antón, director of the Geneva Centre for Contemporary Art. Through the visual and sound environment of a graphic design studio, the exhibition invites us to explore the graphic landscape of the Swiss French cantons – a world of posters, flyers, leaflets, brochures, invitation cards, books and magazines. The show presents a broad survey of the visual communications scene, exploring themes including the globalisation of influences and references, the importance of marketing, and the democratisation of graphic design tools. PANORAMA explores graphic design as a cultural and aesthetic medium in its own right, introducing the public at large to a new understanding of today's visual culture. Evocatrice des années 50 et 60, une quinzaine d’œuvres figuratives et abstraites sont présentées. Parmi elles, les œuvres de trois grandes figures de l’Ecole de Paris d’après-guerre : Viera da Silva, Nicolas de Staël et Serge Poliakoff. Tous trois démontrent leur souci de l’harmonie des formes et des couleurs, l’équilibre des constructions et une recherche à la limite de l’abstraction. Dans cette continuité, une œuvre majeure de Dubuffet illustre parfaitement la rupture avec la culture académique. -/The spring 2011 show at Galerie Interart pays tribute to some of the leading figures and movements of post-war Western art, with fifteen figurative and non-figurative works from the 1950snd 1960s. Works by three distinguished representatives of the post-war Ecole de Paris – Viera da Silva, Nicolas de Staël and Serge Poliakoff – illustrate their quest for formal and colour harmonies, and their explorations of the limits of abstraction. Continuing the theme, a major work by Dubuffet illustrates the break with conventional'academic'culture enacted by a number of artists involved with the movement. Après une longue série Megachronia consacrée à la corrida, l’artiste propose ici un travail associant couleur, lumière et construction plastique dont certaines pièces seront présentées à la prochaine Biennale de Venise. Roger De Montebello fait partie d’une grande dynastie du monde l’art : son grand-père a collaboré avec Dali, sa tante était mécène du surréalisme et son oncle dirigeait le Metroppolitan Museum à New York. -/Work by artist Roger de Montebello is currently on show at an exhibition entitled Montebello – Color and Light. Following his extended Megachronia series, dedicated to bull-fighting, the artist presents works combining a distinctive use of colour, light and composition, including some pieces scheduled for next year’s Venice Biennale. Roger De Montebello comes from a noted artworld dynasty: his grandfather collaborated with Dalì, his aunt was a well-known patron of the Surrealists, and his uncle was a director of the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
